Welcome.
Welcome to the Official website for Verus Racing - Irish National Champions. We are honoured to represent Ireland at the F1 in Schools World Finals which will be held in Sentosa Resort Singapore. We are a team of three fifth year students from St.Attracta's Community School, Tubbercurry, Co.Sligo. We are powered by Verus Precision Ltd, Co.Sligo. Design.
As part of the competition we have to design a miniture 1:20 scale model formula one car. We use a range of CAD (Computer Aided Design) software to develope our concept and design the best possible car. With analysis software we can test our car using CFD (Computional Fluid Dynamics). Constant testing and analysing ensures we can design a world class car.
Our Task.
Build.
Once our Design process is complete and we are happy with our concept we then develope the CAD representation of our car into a physical car. Our design is converted, and then sent to a 5-axis CNC (Computer Numerically Controlled) router. Once the machining process is complete we sand, seal and paint our car. Bearings, axles and airfoils are then added to complete the build.
Race.
The final and most important part of our task is the race. This year the race takes place in Sentosa Resort, Singapore. There, we will compete with the worlds best teams and hopefully achieve our ultimate goal of being crowned world champions 2015. At the National finals we achieved a time of 1.063 seconds, we hope to build on this success and beat the current world record of 1.003 seconds.
